Dr. Shawn Miller
for KISD School Board

Shawn is running for Katy ISD School Board because he cares about our community. As an educator for over 20 years, he understands what is needed for teachers, staff, administrators, and the community to contribute to the success of our children.

Shawn and his wife Maria have been married for over twenty-two years and have three children.  Their children are 20, 18, and 16 years old and have been enrolled in a Katy ISD school since kindergarten. Their children have participated in extracurricular activities in school including football, art, band, journalism, photography, and advanced placement (AP) courses. He and his family have lived in the Katy area for over 17 years, and his extended family have lived in Katy for over 40 years.

Shawn is the Department Chair of Accounting and Economics and a Professor of Accounting at Lone Star College. He has over 20 years of experience in the education field. He received his Doctor of Business Administration from Liberty University and his Master's of Public Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Shawn is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Shawn and his family attend Kingsland Baptist Church and enjoy serving students and young adults. Shawn also enjoys biking, hiking, and the outdoors. He has hiked to the tallest point in Texas (Guadalupe Peak) and has ridden in the largest organized bike ride in North America (MS 150) which goes from Houston to Austin.
